I wrote a few years ago that 'Fashion Design'–well, isn't. It's not design anymore than Interior Design. It's just decoration. How do I know this? Simple. A designer is known in these circles by her/his 'taste', that's why, and therein lies the fault. If you want further proof, I give you the iconic and much admired Japanese fashion decorator Rei Kawakubo, lovingly loved-up by Robin Givhan in Newsweek (oh, how the mighty have fallen).
Photo is from Comme des Garcons. And people, you just cannot make this up. Creations of this sort have built a $200 million empire. Stunning, I know.
